Mavis Kemper

Mavis Kemper is an artist currently getting their BFA in Printmaking and a certificate in ceramics at Webster University, St. Louis. Their work explores the concepts of bringing a fictional world to life through various artforms and mediums. Their work has been on display in Ste. Genevieve High School and at the Felix Valle House State Historic Site where they currently are employed. Mavis has also been a vendor at events such as DADAH Market where their work is available for purchase. Their work focuses on building up a fantasy-based world that references our own while differentiating from the normal world. They are currently working towards a larger body of work that they are using to tell a story. Mavis likes to explore different mediums and how they might be used in their practice for different projects, though their primary mediums are various printmaking methods and ceramics. They draw from their experiences working at a historic house and research to formulate and plan their projects, adding a more fantasy-based twist to the pieces. When not in the studio Mavis spends time with their cat and dog, reading, spending time with family, or playing video games.
