Lost Mavis
I would like to say that this site is currently being modified and adjusted! So things might be out of sorts but feel free to explore!
Welcome everyone! Here you can find an over view of my work, current works in progress, as well as some insight to the research I've been doing or larger posts about the background of my work. You can get an inside look into my practice as well as what I use as reference for my bodies of work as a whole. I tend to work in one style, but will differ when an experimental idea comes to mind. When deciding on what to do and where I would like to go with my artwork I mostly want to have fun with it, but I also tend to prefer working in a more imaginative way.
My work doesn't entirely center around current events or realistic imagery that is familiar to everyday life, nor is it centered purely around history and its events. I take inspiration from these things, but apply them to an imaginative fictional world that is brought to life through the works I create. Using historical inspiration I twist it into a scene inspired by magic and fantasy that simply does not apply to most people's everyday life. I want to draw someone in to explore a new world that is quite different from out own in nearly every sense of the idea. Because not everyone enjoys contemplating the here and now, so I want to give them an escape through imagination brought to life.
Creating worlds for others to enjoy is often seen through the sense of writing books or shows more often than through a collections of artworks. Since with those forms of media most people are expecting world building and for things to be told to them. I want to bring that experience to life where people can feel as if they stepped into the world that differs from our own and hold something tangible from this foreign place in their hands. I want to bring them into a space where they can forget about the world for a little while before they return to the reality of our own world.
